Route Description : 105Km

The Road race starts outside the Cyril Geoghegan Cycle track and heads south through the city centre and continues south to the M7 (Edwin Swales Drive). About 1km after the start the riders will pass the new Moses Mabhiba Stadium, soon to see action in the World Cup Socccer. This section, until the M7/N2 interchange is flat and fast. From the N2 the route climbs steadily for about 15km through to Pinetown. This is a long, but undulating climb. Once the rider are through Pinetown they have the pleasure of the long sweep downhill towards the coast on the M19. The riders travel along the coast road, the M4, northwards, past Umhlanga Rocks towards Ballito. The turn around point is at Desainaiger, once more riding along the coast along the M4 back to the start. The stretch along the M4 is very scenic. Between Umhlanga and Desainaiger it is undulating, but fairly flat and fast between Umhlanga Rocks and the finish.
